[S.3.3: I]

Siegfried, seemingly oblivious to Bruennhilde’s cares and concerns, just as he was previously oblivious to her remarks about Wotan, telling her that he could only feel her, and hear her singing, but could not grasp what she was saying, now plunges headlong into passion accompanied by #132 and #137. He declares he has lost himself and can only find himself again in Bruennhilde, just as Bruennhilde told Siegfried that she was no longer herself, having lost her godhead and the protective armor which preserves her chastity:

Siegfried: (#132 varis: [fast and furious figures]; #66?:; #137: [sounding like #164?:; #121 vari?:; #?: [perhaps a reference to some chords which precede Siegfried’s narration of the story of his youth for the Gibichungs, which have a feeling of reminiscence of the past? Could this be the #Motif of Remembrance, which is first heard in the orchestra just after Siegfried tells the Gibichungs: “I thirst,” in T.3.2?]) It is you that I love: if only you loved me (:#132 varis; :#66?; :#137 vari; :#121 vari?; :#? [chords associated with the #Remembrance Motif, (#@: e or f?), in T.3.2?])! (#134; #140 frag) Awaken, Bruennhilde! Waken, you maid! (#141) Laugh and live, sweetest delight! Be mine! Be mine! Be mine!

Bruennhilde: (very inwardly: #140 vari:) O siegfried! Yours was I aye [ever] (:#140 vari)!

Siegfried: (ardently: #accompaniment from the Siegfried Idyll: [presumably what I have called, for lack of a motivic designation, #Siegfried’s Ardent Figure?]) If you were once, then be so now (:#Siegfried Idyll accompaniment)!

Bruennhilde: (#140?:) Yours shall I be for ever!

Siegfried: (#?: [urgent figure, perhaps the #Siegfried Idyll accompaniment?]) What you will be, be today (:#Siegfried Idyll accompaniment?)! (#141 varis [developing as in the lead-up to the finale a
